On the one hand they constitute the bridge between theory and experiments, allowing to compute predictions starting from a theoretical model. On the other, they shed light on the underlying properties of quantum field theories. To both ends, analytic results for multi-particle multi-loop amplitudes are in high demand. In particular, the foremost and most urgent challenge is currently represented by five-particle amplitudes at two-loop order. Despite the dramatic recent progress, such computations remain formidable tasks. I review the cutting edge mathematical methods used in the analytic calculation of scattering amplitudes. As an application, I present the recent computation of the gluon-initiated contribution to di-photon plus jet production up to two loops in QCD.<\/p>","excerpt":"","slug":"modern-methods-for-scattering-amplitudes-with-an-application-to-di-photon-plus-jet-production-at-two-loop-order-in-qcd-remote-talk","image":false,"all_day":false,"start_date":"2021-07-08 11:00:00","start_date_details":{"year":"2021","month":"07","day":"08","hour":"11","minutes":"00","seconds":"00"},"end_date":"2021-07-08 12:00:00","end_date_details":{"year":"2021","month":"07","day":"08","hour":"12","minutes":"00","seconds":"00"},"utc_start_date":"2021-07-08 09:00:00","utc_start_date_details":{"year":"2021","month":"07","day":"08","hour":"09","minutes":"00","seconds":"00"},"utc_end_date":"2021-07-08 10:00:00","utc_end_date_details":{"year":"2021","month":"07","day":"08","hour":"10","minutes":"00","seconds":"00"},"timezone":"Europe\/Paris","timezone_abbr":"CEST","cost":"","cost_details":{"currency_symbol":"","currency_code":"","currency_position":"","values":[]},"website":"https:\/\/www.lapth.cnrs.fr\/en\/event\/modern-methods-for-scattering-amplitudes-with-an-application-to-di-photon-plus-jet-production-at-two-loop-order-in-qcd-remote-talk\/","show_map":false,"show_map_link":false,"hide_from_listings":false,"sticky":false,"featured":false,"categories":[{"name":"Weekly seminars","slug":"weekly-seminars","term_group":0,"term_taxonomy_id":18,"taxonomy":"tribe_events_cat","description":"","parent":0,"count":47,"filter":"raw","id":18,"urls":{"self":"https:\/\/www.lapth.cnrs.fr\/en\/wp-json\/tribe\/events\/v1\/categories\/18","collection":"https:\/\/www.lapth.cnrs.fr\/en\/wp-json\/tribe\/events\/v1\/categories"}}],"tags":[],"venue":[],"organizer":[{"id":7635,"status":"publish","date":"2022-06-20 18:23:02","date_utc":"2022-06-20 16:23:02","modified":"2022-06-20 18:23:02","modified_utc":"2022-06-20 16:23:02","url":"https:\/\/www.lapth.cnrs.fr\/organizer\/simone-zoia\/","organizer":"Simone Zoia","slug":"simone-zoia","json_ld":{"@type":"Person","name":"Simone Zoia","description":"","url":"","telephone":"","email":"","sameAs":""},"global_id":"www.lapth.cnrs.fr\/en\/?id=7635","global_id_lineage":["www.lapth.cnrs.fr\/en\/?id=7635"]}],"custom_fields":[],"json_ld":{"@context":"http:\/\/schema.org","@type":"Event","name":"Modern methods for scattering amplitudes, with an application to di-photon plus jet production at two-loop order in QCD (remote talk)","description":"<p>Scattering amplitudes play a central role in our understanding of the fundamental laws of nature.
