The LAPTh is a joint research unit (UMR 5108) under the supervision of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc and CNRS Physique. The laboratory is located on the CNRS campus in Annecy, in the immediate vicinity of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc campus.
The laboratory’s scientific activities are in the field of theoretical physics and are centered around three main themes:
In these areas, the laboratory is involved in a significant number of national and international research networks and receives around one hundred visiting scientists each year. Laboratory members also participate in university teaching and in disseminating knowledge to the general public.
