Education

The LAPTh, a joint research unit of the CNRS and Université Savoie Mont Blanc, is part of the Faculty of Sciences and Mountains.

Working closely with their colleagues at LAPP, LAPTh faculty members teach at all three university levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral) as well as at the Annecy University Institute of Technology (IUT) and the Polytech’ Annecy-Chambéry engineering school.

Postdoctoral courses written by LAPTh researchers are available on our website.

Training

  • Licence
The research teachers of LAPTh and their colleagues from LAPP provide the basic Physics courses for the “Science, Technology, Health” degree, in particular for the Physics-Chemistry specialization which includes in the 3rd year, a Physics track and a Physical Sciences track.
  • Master
    • Master MEEF, 2nd level (Teaching, Education and Training Professions)
The teacher-researchers from LAPP and LAPTh teach in the “Physical and Chemical Sciences” track of this master’s program leading to the preparation of the CAPES in Physical Sciences.
    • Master Recherche, mention Physique
The Physics specialization within the Research Master’s program (M1 and M2) is jointly accredited by Grenoble Alpes University, the Grenoble Institute of Technology (INP Grenoble), and Savoie Mont Blanc University. Research professors from LAPTh contribute to the teaching of the “Subatomic Physics and Cosmology” specialization within the M2 Research program, which is specifically aligned with the laboratory’s research themes.
  • Still at the Master’s level and within these themes, it is also worth mentioning:
    • GraSPA (Graduate School in Particle and Astroparticle physics)
This school, organized annually by LAPP and LAPTh in July, aims to provide third-year undergraduate and first-year Master’s students with an introduction to particle and astroparticle physics and to present the latest results in the field. Around thirty students from various European universities attend a week-long series of lectures (in English) covering the theoretical and experimental aspects of physics at the LHC, neutrinos, flavor physics, and astroparticle physics (dark matter, cosmic rays, gravitational waves). This school is very popular with European physics students.

Training and Research Units

  • UFR SceM
The teacher-researchers of LAPTh mainly participate in the teaching of the UFR Science and Mountain.
  • IUT d’Annecy

A lecturer-researcher from LAPTh and some CNRS staff teach in the Physical Measurements department of the IUT of Annecy.

  • École d’ingénieurs Polytech’ Annecy-Chambéry

The research professors at LAPTh also participate in the teaching of the PeiP preparatory cycle (Preparation for Polytech engineering schools)
