From Annecy city center
This map here shows the location of various bus stops near the SNCF train station.
From the city center, take bus number 1 (toward “Parc des Glaisins”) or bus number 4 (toward Campus) and get off at the “Campus” stop. The journey takes about 20 minutes and buses run fairly frequently (every 10 to 15 minutes). The last bus leaves Campus at 1:00 a.m. Please note that bus schedules are different on Saturdays and during school holidays.
The entrance to the LAPP/LAPTh building is located directly opposite the bus stop (opposite the roundabout).
For bus schedules, see here (Sibra).
From Annecy-le-Vieux
For those staying in Annecy-le-Vieux, you can reach the laboratory on foot or by bus. You will find a map of Annecy-le-Vieux here here. You can take bus line 1 from the city center towards Parc des Glaisins, Campus stop.
By taxi
We do not recommend taking a taxi from Annecy city center. Annecy Taxi website.
From Geneva
Geneva Center
For those coming from Geneva, the most convenient means of public transportation is the bus (for timetables, see the website).
The bus departs from the Geneva bus station (website), which is located near the train/SBB station and the main post office (see map). In Annecy, get off at the terminus: the train and bus station (on the map of Annecy: SNCF train station)
You will find here the Geneva-Annecy bus timetable. The journey takes about 1 hour.
Annecy – Geneva trains are operated by Léman Express. Direct connections take about 1 hour 30 minutes.
From the center of Annecy you can go directly to your hotel or take the bus to come to LAPTh. (Sibra)
Geneva Airport
50 km away: Geneva International Airport. The bus is again the easiest means of transport. However, it is not very frequent.
Some Geneva-Annecy buses stop at Geneva Airport (bus timetables). If the wait is not too long, it is better to wait at the airport. Alternatively, you can take a local bus from Geneva (or the fast train) to Geneva’s main train station (Cornavin), which is a 5-10 minute walk from the main terminus. From there, you can take the bus or train to Annecy.
If your flight was delayed or you missed the last bus to Annecy, you can take a taxi. It’s expensive and depends on whether you take a Swiss or French taxi.
Pre-booking a Geneva Airport Taxi
If your flight is scheduled to land after 7 p.m., please arrange with your host and/or our Secretariat to have a taxi pre-booked for you. This will be waiting for you at the Airport.
From Lyon airport
The airport is located 125 km from Annecy Lyon St Exupéry International Airport.
The easiest way to travel from Lyon Airport to Annecy is by bus. Unfortunately, these are few in number.
Timetables and fares are available at http://www.altibus.com or flixbus or BlaBlacar
You can also take a shuttle to Lyon city center and then the train to Annecy.
By car
From the Lyon–>Chambéry–>Annecy–>Geneva motorway, take the “Annecy Nord” exit, then follow the signs for Annecy-le-Vieux/Thônes. After crossing Annecy-le-Vieux towards Thônes, you will come across the Glaisins business park on your left. Continue a little further, and on your right you will find the “Chemin de Bellevue” with a sign for “LAPP”. The LAPTh / LAPP is located on this street, turn right at the next roundabout.
If you get lost after the motorway exit, look for signs pointing towards “Annecy-le-Vieux” and, particularly, the University or “Domaine Universitaire (IUT)”, which is right next to the LAPTh / LAPP.
