Introduction to generalised symmetries

Defining internal symmetry in a quantum theory through the lens of topological defects has opened the door to generalised notions of symmetry. In this seminar, I will introduce such generalisations and sketch the relevant mathematical framework, before presenting explicit examples in quantum lattice models.
